Jennifer is a research officer in the Research, Evaluation and Information Department at NFER’s Northern Office based in York. Since joining the NFER in 2009, Jennifer has worked on evaluations for a range of clients including the Department for Children, Schools and Families, the Local Government Association and the Financial Services Authority. Jennifer is currently working on projects relating to high-performing education systems, alternative provision, and safeguarding of children and young people.

Prior experience and professional background

Prior to joining the NFER Jennifer worked as a researcher in the House of Commons, specialising in financial and social inclusion, and the delivery of personalised public services for those with additional or complex needs.

Jennifer has strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, and is accomplished at in-depth interviewing, both by telephone and face to face. Jennifer also has considerable experience of documentary analysis and case study research.

Jennifer has a BA (Hons) in Politics and an MA (by Research) in Politics, both from the University of York.

Research interests

Safeguarding and vulnerable children, creativity and cultural education, school improvement, financial capability.
