About LARC4

LARC4 is the round of research currently being undertaken by the consortium. Building on the approaches of LARC2 and 3, LARC4 is exploring the interface between CAF/TAC and social care teams. Using a realistic evaluative qualitative case study methodology, the research is focusing on higher level need families (i.e. those at the interface between CAF and social care teams) that have been the subject of a CAF episode. The aim of the research is to understand how universal and statutory services can work more effectively to reduce the pressures on social care teams, as well as avoid future undesirable (and costly) outcomes for families. LARC4 continues to explore the cost effectiveness of CAF processes through this work.

Findings, conclusions and recommendations from LARC4, which NFER will draw together from the findings from the individual LA projects, will be of interest to national and local Government agencies, Children's Trusts, all Children's Service authorities and anyone with an interest in integrated working; the CAF process and cost effectiveness.

LARC4 interim findings will be presented to the consortium during October 2011 and the final report will be published at end of the year.
