NFER is still accepting orders for the 2012 marking service. If you are interested, please complete and return one of our order forms
The NFER analysis and marking service (formerly PASS) is a service for primary schools offering the analysis and marking of QCDA (now STA) optional tests for years 3, 4 and 5. It provides comprehensive analyses of pupils’ performance and progress right through to year 6; in a form suitable for sharing with staff, governors and Ofsted. The report details a breakdown of KS1 pupil achievement and probability estimates for KS2; providing a strong marker of both individual and group achievement and potential. It allows teachers to highlight and address areas of weakness or concern in pupils’ performance. The analysis and marking service reduces teachers’ workloads, combines with and strengthens teacher assessments, and is compatible with RAISEonline.
The analysis and marking services offered by NFER provide test and question-level data that can be used to support other sources of information such as teacher assessment. This has been tailored to suit the varying needs of primary schools, which is reflected in a three-tier service:
analysis and marking
With this service, NFER manages every stage of the marking and analysis of your optional tests. In line with our high standards of practice, NFER have invested many years building an experienced panel of markers. Once the test papers are marked*, we analyse the results and send a tailored report containing question-level data profiles for each pupil. This includes raw scores, age standardised scores and test levels and data is easily comparable in terms of individual pupils, background data (e.g. boys vs. girls) and national data.
analysisplus
This service allows you to access our marking software to enter your pupils’ marks yourselves. It has been adapted for use in education settings, and the analysis and marking team are available to help with enquiries at every stage. Once the data has been sent to us, we then analyse and produce a detailed report containing question-level information on each pupil. This incorporates background information supplied to us by you, which then provides a more comprehensive profile for your school. NFER also produces a data file that loads directly onto RAISEonline.
analysis
This service provides you with test-level analysis of optional tests, based on pupils’ overall scores. It incorporates background information for a more thorough analysis and has strong predictive value in terms of progression to KS2. This service is simple and inexpensive, and is useful for schools who are interested in an overview of their pupils’ performance and potential.
* Please note that we use an electronic marking system, therefore we cannot guarantee that marks will appear on the test papers.
